Lego Man Day - Engineering with Lego!
The children have been building and programming a variety of robots. The first robot we built was the glowing snail. Children had to program an algorithm to make their snail flash a series of different colours. Some children improved their algorithms by adding sounds.
We then went on to build a moving satellite. This robot used a single motor and a wheel to rotate. The children programmed their satellites to turn at different speeds, for different lengths of time and in different directions. They also used loops to repeat the algorithm.
After break we are building a spy robot which uses and infrared sensor to detect motion. Children will record their own spy alert message to warn intruders and program an algorithm that detects motion in front of the sensor. They will also add sounds to alert. The children will then customise these designs to create their own spy robots.
